A toy collection drive in Paris aims to reduce waste by encouraging residents to donate unused toys from November 1st to 28th.
Toy drive launched in Paris region
A large toy collection drive has started in the Paris region, running from Sunday, November 1st, to Saturday, November 28th. The initiative aims to collect unused toys from residents and redirect them to those in need rather than having them discarded.Collection points across Île-de-France
Residents of Île-de-France can deposit unused toys at 73 collection points throughout the region. These points include post offices, toy stores, large grocery stores, associations, town halls, and garden centers, making it easier for people to participate.Ecomaison addresses toy waste issue
The initiative is organized by Ecomaison, an eco-organization approved by the state, which aims to address the issue of unused toys being stored for an average of five years before being discarded. According to Ecomaison, 27% of the French throw their games and toys in the trash, often due to uncertainty about sorting instructions or lack of awareness of nearby collection points.Goal to make November a monthly event
Maxime Goutti, head of the toy sector for Ecomaison, stated the drive hopes to become "a monthly event in November." The operation mobilizes a total of 618 collection points throughout the region, including 114 in Paris and others in surrounding departments.Types of toys accepted
Donors can deposit indoor toys such as dolls, figurines, board games, outdoor games, or electronic toys, including those in good condition, damaged, incomplete, or broken. These items will be sorted and restored before being given away or sold at solidarity prices.Nationally expanded collection effort
Nationally, 5,000 collection points are planned for this drive, twice as many as for the first edition. This expansion reflects growing public interest in reducing waste and promoting reuse of toys across France.
