DS Automobiles unveils F3VER concept

DS Automobiles has introduced the F3VER concept, a small electric city car that reflects the brand's potential return to its heritage with a design reminiscent of the original DS3. The DS3, launched in 2010, was known for its distinctive style, compact size, and numerous personalization options.

Design and dimensions of the F3VER

The DS F3VER concept measures 4.19 meters in length, 1.84 meters in width, and 1.46 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.70 meters, which should allow for a generous interior space. The vehicle also features a boot volume of 400 liters.

Aesthetic features and personalization

The design includes a vertical light signature in the shape of a Y at the front, surrounding a "vertical totem" that showcases the brand's logo. At the rear, the lights use 16 LED panels to create a tunnel-like lighting effect. Personalization features include Cosmic Blue paint that changes tone between blue and purple depending on the light, along with a decorative ring on the roof and two-tone bodywork.

Differentiating F3VER from current DS 3

The F3VER concept should not be confused with the current DS 3, which is available in a 100% electric version called DS 3 E-TENSE. However, this model has the silhouette of a small urban SUV, differing from the three-door city car format of the original DS3.

Pricing and market positioning

Additionally, the current DS 3 E-TENSE has a price that exceeds 40,000 euros, which may be a barrier for some buyers. The F3VER concept outlines a more compact model, maintaining the premium ambitions of DS Automobiles, and potentially offering a more affordable option.

Future production and brand strategy

The manufacturer presents the F3VER as a "stylistic laboratory" intended to inspire future models. A potential production model based on the F3VER may not be available until 2028. The return of a true DS3, with its distinctive character and format adapted to the city, will depend on the production model's ability to regain the charm of the original DS3, including a true personality and coherent pricing positioning.
