Tesla announced its Halloween Mode on Tuesday, October 6, through a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. The update adds a range of spooky features to eligible Tesla vehicles, turning them into a "haunted house on wheels." These features include a ghost costume for the car's avatar in the Tesla app, eerie sounds, and flashing headlights when visitors approach. A new Halloween-themed light show and visual wraps in orange, black, and purple have been added to the car's exterior. A special Halloween lock sound replaces the usual beep, and a scary photobooth allows users to take photos of their car from the app. Additionally, the car can repeat messages spoken by the owner remotely through the app using its own voice. This is not the first time Tesla has introduced holiday-themed updates. In late 2025, the company rolled out a Christmas-themed update that included a photobooth feature and enhanced Santa Mode, which disguises the car as a sleigh. Earlier this year, a major update introduced Grok, a karaoke feature, and added parental controls for better oversight of in-car activities. Tesla did not specify which car models, countries, or software versions are compatible with the Halloween update in its X post. The software version is 2026.38.3, released on October 6. It is expected to be available on the Model 3 and Model Y, but Tesla has not confirmed whether the Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck will support the update. This version also includes an automatic adjustment of high beams on certain vehicles. Tesla typically rolls out software updates in waves, and users can check the Software menu in their car to see if version 2026.38.3 is available. The company often provides more details about compatibility and features in subsequent posts or through its official channels.
