London's restaurant scene continues to evolve with several notable revivals and new openings. One of the city's historic dining spots, Quaglino's, is set to reopen on 7 October 2026 after a major refurbishment. Originally founded in 1929 by Giovanni Quaglino, the restaurant is known for its royal connections, having been frequented by Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, and the Queen Mother in 1956. The new incarnation will feature three bars, live entertainment, and a dessert counter called the Tabac, offering items like chocolate cigars and ashtrays. The food will draw on the restaurant's Italian origins, French technique, and British history, with dishes such as vitello tonnato skewers and turbot Mountbatten. Firangi, a restaurant project by Ruhi Parmar Amin and Simar Deol, is undergoing a residency at Top Cuvée in Highbury, where they are testing a nine-dish menu based on regional Indian cooking. The pair plans to open a permanent restaurant after their residency, which runs until 20 December. Their menu includes dishes like jowar and lamb tartare with betel leaf and Coorg-style pork belly with quince fudge. This project highlights a growing trend of chefs exploring traditional regional cuisines with contemporary twists. Yauatcha, a Soho dim sum restaurant, is undergoing a major refurbishment from 26 September 2026, with Wong Kar Wai, the Hong Kong filmmaker, serving as creative consultant. The overhaul will cover the interiors, food, and overall experience, with chef Fai Choi leading the development of a more seasonal menu. The restaurant is expected to reopen in late 2027, promising a fresh take on the classic dim sum experience with a focus on innovation and design. Roast, known for its Sunday lunches, is expanding with a new site at Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch, opening on 21 October 2026. The new restaurant will offer the same menu, including 42-day-aged roast beef, and will have 135 covers, an orangery, and a bar. Meanwhile, Kiln, a restaurant known for producing chefs who go on to open their own places, is seeing another departure with Karla Knowles opening two new restaurants, PAM and AREE. PAM will open in October 2026, while AREE is set to open in 2027. Kudu, which moved to Marylebone last year, is returning to south London with Braai Bird, opening in November 2026. The new restaurant will focus on wood-fired rotisserie chicken and South African sauces. Solis, a chicken-and-steak grill from TA TA Eatery founders Ana Gonçalves and Zijun Meng, will open its first standalone restaurant on 20 October 2026 at 26 Kingly Street in Soho. The menu will expand beyond its food hall offerings, featuring dishes like chateaubriand with chimichurri and Uruguayan-style prawn cocktail.
