The world’s best pizza has found a new home in London, according to the 50 Top Pizza World 2026 ranking. Napoli on the Road, a pizzeria in Chiswick, has been named the top pizzeria globally, surpassing renowned spots like Una Pizza Napoletana in New York and Confine in Milan. This marks the first time a British pizzeria has reached the top of the list. Founded in 2016 with a small three-wheeled Piaggio Ape delivery vehicle and a wood-fired oven, the restaurant now operates three locations in Chiswick, Richmond, and Soho, offering traditional Neapolitan-style pizzas. In Smithfield, a historic area in central London, new dining venues are set to open in late 2026. The Poet, a new pub and restaurant, will feature a ground-floor bar, an upstairs dining room, and a 10-seat chef’s counter offering a 14-course tasting menu. The space was previously occupied by Bubb’s Le Restaurant Francais. Another upcoming spot, B Penhale, will focus on British and Irish regional dishes, incorporating Victorian-era dining traditions like formal service and set menus. Chef Luke Farrell, known for his successful Thai restaurants, is launching YAI in Marylebone in early 2027. The restaurant will highlight the flavors of Phuket and southern Thailand, using ingredients sourced directly from Thailand as well as British produce. This blend of local and international flavors is expected to appeal to both traditionalists and adventurous diners. Canary Wharf, a major business and residential hub in East London, is also expanding its dining scene. Alto 19, a new restaurant and bar located on the 19th floor of Locke London Canary Wharf, will serve modern Mediterranean and Italian cuisine. With a large wine list and panoramic views of the London skyline, it promises to be a popular spot for both locals and visitors. In Chelsea, a new restaurant called Sonara is set to open late in 2026. Marketed as London’s first “Fine Bathing & Dining Club,” Sonara will combine an 80-seat restaurant with wellness facilities such as a banya (a Russian-style steam room), hammam (a Turkish bath), and a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. Guests will be able to dine in bathrobes, moving freely between the restaurant and wellness areas, offering a unique blend of relaxation and fine dining.
