Battlefield 6 becomes free to play on PlayStation and PC

Electronic Arts (EA) has made the multiplayer component of Battlefield 6 free to play for PlayStation and PC players, including those on Steam, starting now and continuing until October 19, 2026. This offer includes access to all maps, modes, classes, and free updates deployed since the game's launch.

Free-to-play component named Battlefield REDSEC

The free-to-play component is called Battlefield REDSEC, which players must install to access the multiplayer content. Xbox players will need an active Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription, as the game has recently joined the catalog.

Free trial period differs by platform

The free trial period for Battlefield 6 varies by platform. On PS5, the free trial runs from October 14 to October 19 at 10 PM French time. On PC via Steam, the free trial is available until October 19 at 7 PM French time.

New content added in recent update

The recent update to Battlefield 6 includes the launch of season 5, which adds two new multiplayer maps: Vegas Strip and Area 51. Vegas Strip features the casinos and hotels of Las Vegas, while Area 51 includes a military base in the desert with heavy vehicles and underground installations. The update also introduces four new weapons: the assault rifle MK 24, the PDW RSPR, the machine gun Z84M, and the sniper rifle ELR-40.

Instructions to access free multiplayer

To play Battlefield 6 for free on PS5, players must open the PS Store from the home screen, search for "Battlefield REDSEC," select Download, install the game, and then launch it to complete the updates.
