The Segway Navimow H5 Pro is a robot lawnmower designed to address a common problem: cutting grass along tricky areas like walls, shrubs, and fences, which traditional mowers often miss. To do this, the H5 Pro uses a feature called the EdgeMaestro system, which includes a robotic arm that extends the main cutting disc by 7.7 cm, allowing it to reach those hard-to-access edges. Unlike some other robot mowers that use a separate blade or head for edge cutting, the H5 Pro moves its primary blade to the side, ensuring a consistent cut height along both straight and irregular borders. The robotic arm is built with an omnidirectional, flexible structure that allows it to follow uneven ground without getting stuck, while a rake module helps guide grass toward the blade. The system also includes a fall sensor and operates at a relatively quiet 58 decibels. The H5 Pro is built for versatility, with four independently driven wheels and an in-place rotation system that allows it to turn on a dime and navigate slopes as steep as 80%. It can also handle obstacles up to 6 cm high, thanks to a suspension system on its rear axle that improves traction on rough terrain. For navigation, the robot uses a combination of LiDAR (a sensor that maps the environment using laser pulses), cameras, and an NRTK (Networked Real-Time Kinematic) positioning system. Based on the garden’s conditions, the robot automatically chooses the best navigation method. It also offers two driving modes: zero-radius pivoting for tight turns and car-like steering to prevent skidding. To ensure the safety of small animals, particularly hedgehogs, the H5 Pro includes a 360° VisionFence system with a thermal camera. This system uses infrared sensors to detect animals even in low light or at night, stopping the blades and rerouting the robot to avoid them. Segway Navimow has worked with a German animal protection organization to improve the system’s detection abilities by testing it at their care center. In addition, users can use a dedicated app to mark areas where the robot should not operate, keeping certain parts of the garden untouched. The Segway Navimow H5 Pro was unveiled at the IFA 2026 trade show in Berlin, though the price and exact release date were not announced. The robot is expected to be available in France around the time of the fair, which runs from September 4 to 8, 2026. As one of the most advanced robot mowers on the market, the H5 Pro represents a step forward in automated lawn care, combining precision, adaptability, and animal safety.
