The fully-electric Range Rover has officially been revealed, boasting a powerful 543 horsepower, a range of up to 372 miles, and the ability to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 22 minutes using a high-speed public charger. The vehicle is expected to start selling in 2027, with a starting price of £154,070. This new model is the quietest Range Rover ever made, thanks to its advanced 118.5kWh battery, which uses 344 prismatic cells and an 800-volt electrical system. Two electric motors work together to produce the power and torque needed for a 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 4.3 seconds. The Range Rover Electric is designed to look similar to its petrol, diesel, and hybrid counterparts, with only minor aerodynamic and wheel changes to differentiate it. However, the interior and performance have been significantly refined. A new Integrated Traction Management system allows the car to adjust motor speed in as little as 50 milliseconds, much faster than traditional combustion engines. The system can also vary torque to the rear wheels based on grip, and single-pedal driving is available, enabling the vehicle to climb steep slopes with ease. The car can even wade through up to 900mm of water, and its lower center of gravity and twin-chamber air suspension improve road stability and comfort. The Range Rover Electric has been rigorously tested in extreme conditions, including temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius in Sweden and the intense heat of Dubai. It has also been tested at JLR’s Eastnor Castle off-roading facility to ensure it performs well across various terrains. A new app allows owners to monitor their car's charge, track its location, check if it’s locked, and schedule home charging. Features like cabin purification and a heated steering wheel can also be controlled remotely. The electric powertrain comes with an eight-year or 100,000-mile warranty, and a Battery Digital Twin uses over 900 diagnostic points to monitor the battery's health. Production of the Range Rover Electric will occur alongside traditional petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid models at JLR’s Solihull factory, where 9,000 staff have been trained for electrification. The batteries and electric drive units are produced at JLR’s plant in Wolverhampton. Customers can now place orders for both short- and long-wheelbase versions, available in several trims including Autobiography, SV, SV Black, and SV Ultra. A special First Edition model is also available in specific colors and with unique interior materials. Prices start at £154,070 for the EV550 Autobiography short-wheelbase, with the top-of-the-line SV Ultra expected to cost significantly over £250,000.
