Razer, a well-known name in gaming hardware, has unveiled the Prio, a new mobile controller at IFA 2026 in Berlin. Designed for smartphone users, the Prio is significantly smaller than previous models from the company, such as the Kishi Ultra and Kishi V3 Pro. When folded, it measures just 10.7 x 6.7 cm and is 2.3 cm thick—about the size of a credit card. This compact design aims to make gaming on the go more convenient. The Prio is compatible with smartphones up to 7 inches in size, including high-end models like the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Galaxy S26 Ultra, even when they are in thin or medium cases. Unlike traditional controllers that rely on batteries or Bluetooth connections, the Prio connects directly to the phone via its USB-C port. This eliminates the need for charging or pairing, making it more reliable and easier to use. The controller features two capacitive sticks, a directional pad, four silent action buttons, two bumpers, and two triggers. The capacitive sticks use a method of detection that doesn’t involve physical contact, which may reduce wear and the common issue known as "stick drift," where the stick moves on its own. A standout feature of the Prio is a dedicated button that opens Razer Cortex Mobile, an app that centralizes access to compatible games and remote gaming services. This includes support for Xbox Cloud Gaming, Steam Link, PS Remote Play, and even PC titles. This makes the Prio a versatile tool for gamers who want to play across different platforms from their smartphones. The Prio is priced at 109.99 euros and is available for purchase directly from Razer, in its physical stores, and through online retailers like Amazon. While the Prio is a significant step forward in mobile controller design, it is not meant to replace larger, more traditional controllers used for console or PC gaming. Instead, it serves as a compact and portable option for those who want to game on their phones without sacrificing functionality. The device aims to address the common complaint of bulkiness in mobile gaming accessories while still offering a comprehensive set of features for a variety of gaming needs.
