Brompton, a London-based company renowned for its foldable bicycles, has unveiled a new version of its G Line City+ foldable electric bicycle in October 2026. This update builds on a limited edition model released in 2025, retaining the core design but introducing several new features. The bicycle includes an ergonomic raised handlebar and the widest, most padded saddle available in Brompton's lineup, features that were also present in the 2025 version. The tires have been upgraded from the Schwalbe Big Apple to the Continental Contact Urban, which have a nearly smooth tread designed for better performance on asphalt roads. The new tires feature a puncture protection system rated level 6 on the Continental scale, which is among the highest levels available. In 2025, Brompton emphasized the comfort benefits of the Big Apple tires, which were balloon-style tires that reduced handlebar vibrations by 36 percent. Now, the company highlights the Contact Urban tires for their performance, grip, and puncture resistance, though specific comfort figures are not provided. The motor and folding mechanism remain unchanged from the original G Line model. Will Carleysmith, who oversees design and engineering at Brompton, explained in a press release that the G Line City+ was developed to provide a more relaxed riding experience. "The straighter position and increased comfort make it an ideal model for both daily commutes and longer rides, while retaining all the versatility that makes the G Line famous," he said. The bicycle is priced at 4,299 euros through the French Brompton store, which is 300 euros more than the base Electric G Line model. The frame remains steel, and the electric assistance system, known as e-Motiq, is unchanged. Key features of the G Line City+ include a rear-mounted Ananda motor with 40 Nm of torque, a Microshift derailleur with 4 speeds, and a 345 Wh battery housed in a front pouch. According to Brompton, this setup provides a range of 30 to 60 kilometers, depending on usage. The bicycle weighs 19.5 kg with the battery and 16.2 kg without it. When folded, it measures 73 x 69 x 40.2 cm, making it easy to transport. The handlebar-mounted display shows speed, battery level, assistance mode, and an estimated range based on the last 100 kilometers traveled. The additional 300 euros compared to the base Electric G Line model is attributed to the upgraded handlebar, saddle, and tires. The new version is available in sizes S and M, catering to a range of rider preferences. This update reflects Brompton's ongoing efforts to enhance comfort and practicality without compromising the compact, foldable design that has made its bicycles popular among urban commuters and enthusiasts alike.
