The JBL Bar 500MK2 soundbar is currently on sale for 399.99 euros at major retailers like Amazon, Fnac.com, Darty.com, and directly from JBL. This represents a price drop of about 33% compared to its usual cost. Designed as an entry-level option in JBL's soundbar lineup, the Bar 500MK2 aims to deliver a rich home cinema experience with a simple setup. It features a 5.1-channel system, including a subwoofer, and offers immersive surround sound for a more engaging audio experience in the home. The soundbar provides balanced mid and high-frequency sound, along with surround effects that create a sense of space. It includes a large display, an ergonomic remote, and a sleek, compact design. Connectivity options are diverse, including Wi-Fi and support for services like AirPlay 2, Chromecast, and Spotify Connect. However, the device has some drawbacks. The subwoofer can be overly loud, and there's noticeable distortion at high volumes. The surround effects are not as strong as expected, and the soundbar cannot disable virtualization via HDMI. Additionally, it lacks 4K/120 Hz pass-through, which is important for high-end TVs and gaming consoles. Despite these issues, the JBL Bar 500MK2 still manages to deliver a wide and immersive sound experience. Its overall sound is well-balanced and controlled, though it struggles to harmonize with the sometimes overwhelming subwoofer. The user experience is generally positive, though it is not without some inconsistencies or features that may be considered unnecessary. Overall, it is a solid option for users who want a compact, functional soundbar that can deliver impactful audio without requiring complex setup. The price reduction is calculated by comparing today's lowest price with the average of the lowest prices offered by all retailers for the product over the past month. The calculation excludes prices from stores with unclear tax policies, often associated with imports from China. An alternative to consider is the Hisense AX5125H, a more budget-friendly option that focuses on simplicity and ease of use. It delivers clear sound and surprisingly effective spatial audio for its price, making it a strong contender for those looking for a straightforward and efficient soundbar.
